Teachers in training or teachers new to the profession include:
- certified teachers new to the district,
- student teachers from a variety of colleges, and
- student observers.
The certified teachers new to the district are in the state mandated TEAM program.

Student teachers come from colleges and universities in Connecticut, with many coming from the University of Connecticut and Eastern Connecticut State University. Many teacher certification programs require students to observe classes. They are not certified but are teachers in training.
