Project Graduation Information

Since 1988, a group of volunteer parents has organized an all-night drug and alcohol-free celebration for Tolland’s graduating seniors.  Normally, over 93% of each senior class has attended this event.  This gathering allows the entire senior class to enjoy each other’s company for one last time before moving on to the next phase in their lives. The party is held at a local health club, is chaperoned for the entire evening and provides the graduates with lots of food, music, activities and prizes.

The success of this event is dependent on the participation of Tolland's school administrators, local organizations and businesses, parents of the students and our own fund raising activities.  Our major fundraising events for the past several years have included the quarterly Can & Bottle Drives as well as manning concession stands at UCONN football and basketball games.

If you are interested in helping at these fundraising events, becoming a member of the organizing committee or chaperoning the graduation party, please contact us at 871-2909.

Scholarship Information

The THS Scholarship Fund Committee would like to announce that the 2009 recipient of the Joyce Robinson Art Scholarship of $1,000.00 has been awarded to Anna Vecchi.  Mrs. Robinson was a very talented local artist.  Anna chose to attend The Rhode Island School of Design.

Celebrating more than 25 years of giving...

Once again the Tolland Scholarship Committee is sending information to all Tolland residents about our program as we continue assisting Tolland High students.

Each year we award scholarships to deserving Tolland seniors.  Applications are available to them through the Tolland High Guidance office.  Awards vary and are based on differing criteria including academic achievement, leadership, service, special interests and financial need.

We hope the community at large will support our efforts as so many have done in the past.  Please celebrate with us by sending a donation in the envelope that you received in the mail. No amount is too small; even if you can send $5 or $10 dollars it will be appreciated.  Donations received by May 1st will be acknowledged in the Tolland High School graduation program in the following categories:

Contributors........ $25 - $49
Friends................ $50 - $99
Sponsors.............$100 - $199
Patrons................Over $200

You might also want to take this opportunity to consider our endowment program.  Over the years, community members have chosen this tribute to friends and family.  These endowments usually take the form of named donors.  If you would like more information about this program, please contact Lenore Kerachsky.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Mary Ann Lovett, Chairperson
Tolland High School Scholarship Committee

Staff Appreciation

The teachers, administrators and staff at THS put forth extraordinary efforts on behalf of our students.  The Staff Appreciation Committee tries to recognize these efforts each year by offering a simple thank you.  We provide small treats and notes of thanks every few months. To break up the winter doldrums, volunteer parents prepare a special soup and salad luncheon, which is enjoyed by all!

Welcome To All 8th Grade Parents

The Tolland High School Booster Club would like to welcome all parents of the incoming freshman class.  We are the parent-teacher organization of Tolland High School.  Our mission statement is, “Enhancing athletic and academic programs in partnership with the school administration, faculty, and students.”  We provide funds for departments to support student based projects, athletic banners and recognitions as they are earned, donate to Renaissance, the high school club which recognizes academic excellence, provide concession stands for sporting events, and host Staff Appreciation luncheons and treats.   Recent gifts to the school include the sound system in the gym, and the track trophy case outside the gym.

During the 2005-06 school year we branched out from traditional fundraisers to host student based events including dances, a Battle of the Bands, and the Cider Mill Road Race.  We had a wonderful response, and will continue such events next year.

Parents will receive our schedule of meetings in the school calendar sometime in August. We meet on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the THS Conference Room.  Please join us to find out what Booster Club is all about.  We always welcome new volunteers!
