Student Expectations
At the middle school and high school levels, the English Language Arts classes are novel based. At the middle school level, the novels are often tied to social studies themes through the Wit and Wisdom program. At the high school level, the novels range from current novels to novels from the American and British canon. The Tolland Public Schools have worked diligently to offer novels with diverse representations. It should be noted that reading at home is an expectation at both Tolland Middle School and Tolland High School. Parents/guardians are encouraged to promote reading at home, for their children, regardless of age.
