Parenting is a tough job, we ALL need support along the way!!

FREE On-Line Fall Parenting Classes

Free Online Parenting classes are now available for Tolland residents, and professionals working in Tolland. These programs are presented through Peace at Home Parenting Solutions. The program offers both live webinars and recorded sessions that can be accessed from the comfort of your home! Programs address issues encountered by parents of children ages birth through adolescence. Live webinars scheduled for October/early November include:

SELF-REGULATION: Teach & ModelThu, Oct 12, 2017 8:15 PM - 9:15 PM EDT  Parents often don’t recognize hidden stressors in children’s lives. This live, online class will examine such stressors and help participants more effectively use the parent-child relationship to achieve positive change.

TALKING TO TEENS: Communication for Connection & Safety: Sat, Oct 21, 2017 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM EDT  Studies show that teens who feel they can talk with their parents are less likely to engage in risky behaviors such as promiscuity, substance use, violence, etc. Talking isn’t lecturing and this live, online class will strengthen your listening and communicating skills.

SOCIAL MEDIA 101: Keep Your Kids Safe: Tue, Oct 24, 2017 8:15 PM - 9:15 PM EDT

When children and teens connect to the internet, they enter a wide open space not supervised well or at all by adults. Parents are challenged to sort out guidelines and strategies to protect their children in this busy arena that is both alluring and alarming.

EAT, PLAY, SLEEP: Livable Routines with Young Children: Sat, Oct 28, 2017 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM EDT  Babies' brains are prewired to enjoy rhythm and melodies. Including rhythms and song into daily activities organizes young children's experience and helps them to learn the ways you want to do things in your family. Parents will hear about how to create family routines that work for parents and meet infants and toddlers needs.

PARENTING TEENS: Power Struggles vs. Effective DisciplineThu, Nov 2, 2017 8:15 PM - 9:15 PM EDT The teenage brain assesses risk differently and teens get bored more easily. These are just a few of the changes taking place in your adolescent’s brain that might make communication and safety a lot more challenging. This live, online class will provide parents with important information about teen brain development and practical strategies to help teens stay safe as well as grow and thrive.
This class is designed for parents of teenagers ages 12 - 20.

If you are unable to tune in to the live webinar, recorded sessions will soon be posted online (or may already be available online from a previous webinar). And check out the website to see additional recorded webinars!
